Dear Noble Families,

Third through fifth grade students throughout the state of Minnesota will soon be taking the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCAs) in reading and math (and 5th Grade science). These tests are used to measure student progress towards the MN Academic Standards for each grade level.  It is an online test administered here at Noble, and scored by the Minnesota Department of Education.

In preparation for testing at school, your child will have the opportunity to explore the testing website, use the tools available, and practice some sample test items. Sample items can be found online at www.pearsonaccess.org/mn.  We encourage you to go on to the site with your child to work out sample items and see the types of learning your child will be asked to demonstrate.  We want students to feel comfortable with the testing format and to go into testing with a prepared and positive mindset. I CAN take my time! I CAN do my best!  I WILL be successful!

The following are the dates for testing this school year:

Reading April 17, 18

Math April 24, 25

Science May 1, 2 (5th Grade only)

On testing days, it is important for your child to be in school and on time.  Help ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before, eats a healthy breakfast and starts off the day on a positive note.  We understand cell phones are an important part of life, however students are not allowed to have their phones with them during testing.  If it is possible, please keep their phones at home. If not, remind them they will need to be turned off and in their backpacks during testing.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or your child’s classroom teacher.

Sincerely,

Michael Rieckenberg
